Here’s our list of local events that are not about being scary and eating candy. Instead, these events are all about costumes, pumpkins, parades, friends, and fun! Please call to confirm all events before heading out since they are subject to change depending on attendance, weather, etc.

Pumpkin Palooza
Saturdays and Sundays, September 7 – October 31
Play in the Hay, Magic Pumpkin Coach, Snap the Dragon, Western Town, make your own scarecrow, pumpkin painting, Charlie Brown’s pumpkin patch, ride the witch broom, and more! Click here for more information about Pumpkin Palooza.

BOO at the Zoo
October 10-12, 17-19, 24-26 and October 30 from 6:00-9:00pm
There’s enough thrills and chills for everyone at Boo at the Zoo! Rides are included in the Boo admission. Climb aboard for a spoooooky train ride or take a bewitching carousel ride! It’s slightly scary fun for all ages! Click here for more information about Boo at the Zoo.

Swim with the Pumpkins at the Y
October 13 – 20, dates and times vary by branch.
Go pumpkin picking in the pool at the Y! The YMCA of Greater Providence branches will be hosting a family-friendly event “Swim with the Pumpkins”. This event will be open to the community and is FREE to attend! All children will receive a free inflatable or real pumpkin to take home. Click here for the Swim with the Pumpkins flyer.

Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular
October 2 — November 2 from 6:00-11:00pm (last entry at 10:00pm) with extended hours on Saturdays (last entry at 11:00pm on Saturdays only.)
Experience the glow of thousands of pumpkins, set in a magical display of artistry during this night-time Spectacular and feast your eyes on hundreds of artfully carved jack-o-lanterns depicting people, places and scenes from popular culture to old-time favorites and everything in between — all with painstaking detail and amazing intricacy! Kidoinfo Spooky Storytime & Haunted Art in the Park!

Join us in Burnside Park for a special fall Kidoinfo Spooky Storytime & Haunted Art in the Park with author/illustrator guest readers Alison Paul, Jen Corace and Anisa Raoof…and Ricky Katowics back at it in Art in the Park – Haunted Edition!

Following Storytime, at Haunted Art in the Park kids can explore Alison Paul’s haunted house in Burnside Park and do Halloween art-making with artist Ricky Katowicz. Also learn about anatomy with our skeleton, Ms. Bones and guess the guts at the touch-and-feel table! Please join us for this THIRD-annual Spooky (but Not So Scary) Kidoinfo Storytime event! Halloween Hike — Mother Nature style!
Saturday, October 25 from 5:30-9:00pm (Groups depart every 10 minutes)
Bundle up and rustle through the leaves on guided lantern-lit trails through the cool night forest. Families encounter friendly costumed woodland creatures that explore the myths and legends associated with local wildlife and Halloween. 9th Annual Halloween Iron Pour: Mad Science!
Saturday, October 25 (Rain date: October 26th.) from 5:00pm – 8:30pm.
Doors open at 5:00pm. Iron Pour Begins, with music provided by The Empty House Cooperative.
Here at the Steel Yard, planning for the 9th Annual Halloween Iron Pour is already underway and we invite you to join us for this unique industrial art performance! This family friendly event exposes viewers to the spectacular process of casting iron in a creative and nontraditional way. Each year the Steel Yard teams up with the Iron Guild, a New England based group of foundry artists, to present the industrial arts in an accessible and fun way. Large format sculptures and kinetic art pieces are cast before the crowds eyes, creating an evening of glowing metal, drama, and music. Click here for more information about this year’s Iron Pour.

Spooky Zoo

Boo Bash

Little Pumpkins

All are welcome at the “Fiends” of Brown Street Park Children’s Halloween Party and Parade. Kids can join in on the ghoulish games, creepy crafts, and demented decorating projects, while filling up on pizza and healthy snacks. At 5:00pm, jump in as one of our favorite marching bands honks, blasts and bangs their way along a neighborhood parade route. Sponsored by “Fiends” of Brown Street Park, Mt. Tour the Old Jail
Thursdays through December 31 from 11:00am – 4:00pm
