FOO FEST HAPPENINGS
KIDS & FAMILIES:
Foo Fest is completely kid and family friendly from 1pm until sunset!
NEW this year, children under 10 are free with an adult!
This year, families will enjoy hands-on artsy, crafty, and techy activities and demos courtesy of Kidoinfo, the Rhode Island Mini Maker Faire (see details below), the AS220 Industries, the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art,  CityArts, Girls Rock RI, and more!
RHODE ISLAND MINI MAKER FAIRE:
Celebrate new England D.I.Y. with Rhode Island’s own Mini Maker Faire, featuring hands-on making, building & hacking, crafting, garage technology, arts and creativity for sale, and robots, right in the middle of Foo Fest, located at the Pell-Chafee Performance Center! Sponsored by Maker Media. Read an interview with Brian Jepson, co-producer of the RI Mini Maker Faire.
FEST ARTIST IN RESIDENCE:
For the second consecutive year, Foo Fest will have an official Artist in Residence. Last year’s artist, Dennis McNett of Wolfbat Studios, designed and built a life-sized viking ship, complete witha viking horde, that set sail for the main outdoor stage and ushered in the arrival of musical act Thrillhouse.
This year, we’ve chosen local-but-internationally-known artist and former Managing Director of AS220, Xander Marro! Xander will be putting her distinctive mark on all things Foo, from the poster and ads, physical elements on display the day and night of, and interactive performances and activities at the Fest. Rest assured, much like last year’s viking ship, big things are planned!
MUSIC:
Music happens all afternoon and evening. In addiiton to the headliner SSION, Foo Fest hosts two dozen Providence and RI-centric acts who will be performing throughout the day and night! Click here for lineup.
FOODÂ ANDÂ DRINK:
Once again, the street will be jam-packed with food trucks and vendors from the city and neighboring communities offering a veritable smorgasbord spanning many cultures and diets (yes, carnivores, vegetarians, vegans – we’ve got you all covered!), including AS220 FOO(D), Julian’s, Like No Udder, Poco Loco Tacos, Providence Pudding Pops, Tina’s Jamaican, and more to be announced!

My son loves all country music
And raffi , okedoke brothers

Our 3yo claims to only like female vocalists, but her nighttime music is Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. The ONLY thing that can get our 1yo to stop crying is the song “I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee”.
My kids (3 and 5) love the Okee Dokee Brothers.
I love The White Stripes. Jack White is the single most creative force in modern music and their songs are catchy and fun (Seven Nation Army!!!). The Black Keys are fantastic as well. I don’t like much new music but I love 60’s and 70’s rock: Rolling Stones, the Who, Credence Clearwater Revival etc.
However, you can’t beat The Beatles. Their work ranges from poppy love songs and psychedelic experimental epics to garage rock jams and immensely popular anthems like Hey Jude. They surpass anyone who has ever recorded any type of music…EVER!!!
My girls are multi genre… Macklemore, Maroon 5, the Shins, Beatles, Sheryl Crowe on and on.
My 4 and 5 year olds love the performers we see locally- Bill Harley, Keith Munslow, Joe’s Backyard Band.
My kids love Toe Jam Puppet Band. They also enjoy Laurie Berkner, Ralph’s World, Dan Zanes, and Ziggy Marley.
My children love Kei$ha because they can sing to it, even if the lyrics aren’t always kiddo friendly!
My little girl loves all country music!
My six year old’s favorite band is the White Stripes and favorite single artist is Johnny Cash. For a kids band/artist she loves Bill Harley because “his songs make me laugh”
My Kids favorite band is Black-Eyed Peas
My kids love Raffi, Hap Palmer, Joe’s Backyard Band and almost any cd they take from the library.
On a side note, my 7 year old son and my husband will have their half built robot on display at the Mini Maker Faire.

My daughter & son’s NEW favorite band is…anything Latino! I take a Zumba class 2 times a week and have learned many a bootylicious move that my kids hilariously try to copy. We found a Latino RI station (98?) and it is the only music they will listen to now, in the car, at home, etc. We don’t know a lick of Spanish so we have NO idea what any song or band names are. Prior to that it was Broadway showtunes! We love FooFest and would love to win tickets. Thanks for having this contest.

My 3yr old’s favorite switches between wilco and the deedle deedle dees.
My 14 month daughter Grace LOVES the Rock-A-Baby Rhode Island Band. Marc, Benny, Kate, Rhythm, Melody & Harmony are the BEST!!!
My kid’s like Kid’s Bop and thier favorite artist is Georgia O’Keefe!
The Boy’s favorite musician/band is Brian Setzer and artist is Kandinsky. Although he is very sports oriented his mom tries to keep him balanced out creatively. So far, so good!
