Thursdays on the Plaza! Kidoinfo Storytime + Art in the Park
(Oh the Places WE’LL Go…!)

Every Thursday (July 11 – August 22) 10:30am – 12:30pm
Families bring a blanket and enjoy different storytellers under the trees near the fountain in Burnside Park adjacent to Kennedy Plaza. Storytime features at least one story each Thursday morning from a local Rhode Island author, illustrator or storyteller and is accompanied by a mini-mobile playground for little ones who have the wiggles, so the whole family can enjoy! Storytime is followed by “Art in the Park” at 11:30. This creative program encourages children to make and participate in their own storytelling magic through art. The 2012 theme, Providence and the Purple Crayon created by Rhode Island author and illustrator, Alison Paul was inspired by the classic children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon. This year children are invited to let their imaginations run wild with this years’ theme, Oh the Places WE’LL Go…! which is inspired by the community-minded books of Dr. Seuss. Each week we’ll read a selected book by Dr. Seuss and do arts and crafts projects which explore the world of that book with guest artist, Angela DiVeglia.   See what we did in 2012.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM!
Donations for our “Leave a Book – Take a Book” bin are sought for the series. Your donations can make it possible for any child who needs or wants a book to take one home with them and keep the excitement about stories and books going! If you want information about how you can get involved and support this free, high-quality & accessible family programming, email: jen@kennedyplaza.org.
