A vibrant roster of music and activities spill onto Hope Street on the East Side of Providence on May 31st from Noon – 6pm.
The Hope Street Spring Block Party, a family-oriented festival that takes over the northern part of Hope Street returns this year with more music, more activities and new events to make this the largest Block Party yet! Kidoinfo will be there sharing our updated guide, 100 Things To Do With Kids in Rhode Island, along with many other family-friendly groups including Providence Children’s Film Festival, Joe’s Backyard Band and more!
Two stages of music, lively activities, food trucks, sidewalk sales, restaurant specials and the popular “Beers for Ballet” Beer Garden, featuring seven local breweries benefitting Festival Ballet. New this year to the Spring Block Party is a fashion show with local models strolling a catwalk sporting a variety of wares and styles from the streets’ businesses.
The street will be closed to traffic and bustling with festivities and music at both the 5th Street and Rochambeau ends. Major acts include Ravi Shavi, Jay Berndt & the Orphans, Uke Springsteen and the Atlantic Thrills. Activities in the interior streets will include hayrides, a pop-up playground, face-painting, street chalk art, the engaging Big Nazo puppets and the joyful Extraordinary Rendition marching band.
The Spring Block Party is organized every year by the Hope Streets Merchants Association to showcase the vibrancy of the street and as part of its commitment to neighborhood enrichment.
The event kicks off at noon and ends at 6pm. (Rain date: June 7.)
