We love this show and how it demonstrates how you can make toys from just about anything—reuse what we already own and inspire our kids to use their imagination to create their own play toys. Who knows, maybe some of the kids who craft their own toys will be our future product deisgners or engineers? Proves Cathy’s point that learning can be joyful!

So what do we do will all the candy collected? Over the year’s we have gathered numerous ideas from other parent’s on how they handle the candy overload. I want to remind you of all their great ideas here and suggest another option this year: Operation Gratitude. Donate unwanted candy to the military troops.

The Children’s Workshop, a local child care and early education provider, is encouraging children from it’s sixteen Massachusetts and Rhode Island schools, and the community, to donate a portion of their Halloween candy to send to the troops.

Hard to ignore the news media around Occupy Wall Street or miss the tents pitched in Burnside Park. Teaching children what’s happening locally and the greater world beyond is important and helps kids to develop their sense of place and responisbility to our community. But politics are complicated, even for adults. How do we help children understand what it is and why things happen? Make it relevant to them and share your values and opinions around the current event. At Kidoinfo, we share many voices and opinions of parents.
