The totally fun blog They Draw & Cook is now a book!

If you like to draw and cook, you are probably familiar with this international site of cookies, carrots, and quirk. Much snugglier than a screen, the sturdy book version features illustrated recipes (107 of them) from cook-artists who live all over the world. As on the blog, each cook-artist has a distinct style—some pages look like favorite children’s book illustrations, others more like beautifully designed packaging; some are silly, some are graceful, others are bizarre—to clue you in to the mood of the dish.

Girls Rock! Rhode Island is pleased to present the Women Who Rock Coloring Book! The book celebrates a variety of female musicians, from those who paved the way to the ladies who are influencing today’s vibrant music scene. An eclectic mix of performers are represented in its pages, including Cyndi Lauper, Patti Smith, Nina Simone, Yoko Ono, Joan Jett, Esperanza Spaulding and many more. This first edition features 22 original works of art by local artists, who donated their time and their art.

Barrington Books, one of our favorite local independent book stores welcomes award-winning area children’s book authors and illustrators to its Annual Children’s Books Authors and Illustrators Event on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 10am – 4pm.

This FREE festive, family event will feature many tricks and treats throughout the day, including book signings, costumes, crafts, a “spooky story hour” and more.
