Coloring Eggs
I spent a lot of time crafting with my mom as a kid. Coloring eggs for Easter brings back so many fond memories for me. This project combines all that good stuff that I love to do; color, draw, and collage.
I now have two boys who love to do projects with their mother. I have to remind myself that the kids and I do not approach our projects in the same way (seems obvious but easy to forget). The picture of eggs on the left is how I would like to decorate my eggs. This holiday, however, my boys and I will be decorating eggs with their friends using Superman stickers from Target. Hard to argue in the Easter aisle when the egg-decorating kits with bunny or Superhero motifs are the same price as each other. I was out-voted 2 to 1.
DIY – Colored Eggs
How to Hardboil an Egg: Put eggs in cold water in a saucepan (big enough to hold them in a single layer) and cover with about an inch of water. Bring to a hard boil and keep boiling for 1 minute. Turn off the burner and let sit for 18-20 minutes, depending on the size of the egg. Place eggs in ice cold water. Refrigerate for a week.
• Color eggs by following instructions on the Egg Coloring Kit (available at most grocery and drug stores).
• Use Crayons or colored pencils to draw on the eggs before or after you color them.
• Attach stickers or glue feathers or ribbons onto eggs with Elmer’s glue. Let dry.
