DON’T STOP THE MUSIC! – an exhibition & program series celebrating the history of music in Rhode Island. PPL’s multi-faceted DON’T STOP THE MUSIC exhibition and programs formally begins April 2 with the opening of the in-library exhibit entitled “From Pop to Punk: Highlights of 20th Century Music in Providence.” Major concerts include a collaborative presentation by the Providence Gay Men’s Chorus, which will bring its Spring Concert entitled “Get Happy!” to the PPL from June 4 through June 7.…

The Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival brings together over 100 fine artisans as well as a number of community groups and non-profits from which patrons may purchase one-of-a-kind items that they may only find on this one weekend each year. Over the course of three days, the food court is full of craft fair eats and goodies and Pawtuxet Park fills with music being performed live by our hand-picked bands and performers. Children enjoy the many amusements and games available in the park as well.

The Brothers Grimm Spectulathon

The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in this fast-paced, rollicking ride as two narrators and several actors attempt to combine all 209 stories, ranging from classics like Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel to more obscure stories, into one gigantic fable. This is a wild, free-form comedy with lots of audience participation and madcap fun.

A Rose by Any Other Athenaeum Trinity Rep and the Providence Athenaeum invite students to participate in a 30 minute production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Directed by teaching artists from Trinity Rep’s staff, students learn to bring Shakespeare’s words to life before starring in public performances in the Athenaeum’s library stacks.
