Family Matters: Interested in improving your Neighborhood Park?

Providence is a magnet for people who make things happen – using talent, sharing ideas, or forming partnerships. The newly formed Partnership for Providence Parks is an amazing city-wide public/private non-profit geared toward helping the people and community partners help our parks be active, vibrant, healthy, playful and unique places.

To support this mission, the partnership has designed the Winter 2013 Providence Parks Academy. Thanks to the support of community partners, the Parks Academy will offer the following workshops:

December 4, 6:00-7:30pm
Creating or updating a vision for your park
January 8, 6:00-8:00pm
Accessing and retaining volunteers
January 29, 6:00-8:00pm
Using social media and the web
February 12, 6:00-7:30pm
Accessing city resources
February 26, 6:00-8:00pm
Grant writing and intro to fund development
April 2, 5:00-6:30pm
Who Needs Leaves? Identifying trees
April 3, 5:00-6:30
Friend or Foe? Identifying invasive plants

All workshops are free to individuals and groups working in or planning to get involved in the Providence parks. Registration closes 48 hours in advance.
