Great Cookbooks For Families: La Carmina’s Cute Yummy Time

[ 5 ] 11.12.2009 |

Reviewed by Katy Killilea

yummytimeLa Carmina translates “Kawaii!” as “That is so freakin’ cute!” You can read all about the kawaii-est foods on her blog (Cute Yummy Time) and her new book (same name). For families committed to crafty breakfasts and bento boxes,  these resources are full of inspiration.

For those of us who are pretty much never going to dye scrambled eggs pink or use a heart-shaped mini hole-puncher on spinach leaves, rest assured adorable food faces can be achieved with the deft placement of a few blueberries and a peanut. The glossy, colorful pages are so full of surprising cuteness (lamb face muffin, scallop bunnies) that this book is as much fun for reading as cooking.

Kawaii for everyone!
