The mission of the Jewish Community Center of Rhode Island is to strengthen Jewish identity, family life, community, and the connection between the local Jewish community and Israel. The JCCRI provides for the social, cultural, educational, recreational and health-related needs of the Jewish Community.

Sports, dance, gymnastics, music, games, arts & crafts, enrichment & specialty classes for every age group. Red Cross swim instruction, including Parent-Tot swim, theater presentations, and soccer & basketball leagues are just a few of the programs the JCC has to offer.

Camp: The JCCRI provides hundreds of children non-stop fun and unforgettable memories.  Our summer programs for kids ages 2 through 13 run weekly from June 21 through September
We offer excellent staff-to-camper ratios and our staff undergo a rigorous selection and training process. We also offer early arrival and extended day options.

Depending on your child’s tastes and skills, you may choose our J-Camp Experience or one of our Specialty Camps  (such as Performing Arts and Music, Elite National Soccer Camp, or KidzArt Secret Agent Camp) that will be offered every week of camp.

The JCCRI welcomes you—regardless of race, religion, age or ability.

Birthday parties: Customized party packages including room for cake and gifts. Themed party packages for ages 3 and up include sports, swim parties, arts and crafts, gymnastics, storytelling, scientific exploration and more. New this year is Laser Tag in our gym and Princess Parties. Pool parties available Sunday 1-3 p.m.

  1. Our two girls attended the Early Childhood program 2004-2008.

The staff was stellar – very communicative and kind to us, gentle and accommodating with our kids.

The ongoing swim program was key in getting them comfortable with water and, more importantly, with things active and athletic.

White Christians raised by heteros (like our children) can go through life thinking of themselves as “the norm”. Being Christian kids in a Jewish program helped our guys see that their cultural identity was just one of many possibilities in life.

Our youngest started there at six months old. Now 3 1/2 and halfway through her first year at Gordon, she still holds her JCC buddies near to her heart, and we go swimming there at least once a week.

Just a tip to fellow working moms who try to squeeze in exercise after work:

The JCC has extended its babysitting hours until 6pm on weeknights. Their web site isn’t updated yet, but there are signs in the building now and they’re trying to spread the word. You just have to call and reserve a spot (you can even leave the building!).
