Meet a Parent: Peggy Crane

Peggy CraneNeighborhood: Nayatt-Beach, Barrington

Kidoinfo: How long have you lived in Rhode Island?
PC: Three long, wonderful years.

Kidoinfo: What is your current state of mind?
PC: Swirling (getting ready for a science fair and I’ve not done much yet..ahhhh).

Kidoinfo: Who’s in your family?
PC: Ted — Man of Unbelievable Ethos; Slade the (currently practicing) Benevolent; Archer the Performance Artist (has indelible red scrawl on his face to show his school the look of ’surprise’); Babe the albino dog that looks like a pig, honks like a goose, and acts like a 95-year-old Irish bitty; Sketchy and Hoagie— the feral brother/sister feline duo.

Kidoinfo: What trait do you most admire about your family?
PC: We love to laugh deeply and think potty humor is incredibly funny.

Kidoinfo: What is your favorite thing to do?
PC: With kids — dance like a crazy person. Without kids — surfing. Someday with kids — surf.

Kidoinfo: Where is your favorite place to hang out?
PC: In RI — Briggs Beach (although I haven’t that much), out of state — San Francisco and Bolinas, California.

Kidoinfo: Where would you most like to live?
PC: Bolinas, California; New Zealand — South Island; or any progressive town that doesn’t annoy me too much.

Kidoinfo: What do you like to do when you are not with your kids?
PC: Surf, sew, or run — three things that I have not done in a very long time, sadly. I do like to cook and drink REALLY great wine.

Kidoinfo: What is the most overrated thing about parenthood?
PC: The fanaticism of over-enrolling in academic preschools that don’t fit into your schedule or are pricey. Blah to that!

Kidoinfo: What is your most treasured possession?
PC: my kids (… but they are), a healthy body — when I had it, and when I am better, that I will never take for granted again.

Kidoinfo: What superpower would you most like to have?
PC: From Justice League: Aquaman; from Heroes: Hiro’s time/space continuum. Yet I should really wish for something that would keep me out of debt or heal my body.

Kidoinfo: Who is your favorite fictional mother or father?
PC: Heathcliff Huxtable when I watched him in the ’80s. Don’t know if I could suffer through that show now.

Kidoinfo: What are you going to do now that you have answered these questions?
PC: Put on some music and make dinner.

Today’s Interviewer: Katy Killilea
