Aardman’s new film The Pirates! Band of Misfits is fun for the whole family!

Aardman Studios’ new movie, The Pirates! Band of Misfits based on Gideon Defoe’s book, The Pirates! opens Friday, April 27th. We had a sneak peak of the film during the recent TIFF Kids International Film Festival. This stop-motion animation film combines swashbuckling comedy with science. Family-friendly with themes of loyalty and friendship mixed with adventure and British humor. Lots of fun gags without the bathroom humor, drinking, or scantily clad women.

I didn’t have the necessary magic ahead of deadline to do the project justice. I Was There is a great example of the ways learning happens inside and outside the classroom seamlessly for kids, of the ways that neighborhoods have valuable resources, of the way the school itself can and should be an essential resource for a neighborhood, and of the abilities of young people when they’re engaged and supported in the right ways.
