Open Monday through Saturday – noon to 5 pm. Water turned off at 4:45 at the water parks.
Free lunch starts at noon. Pools and Waterparks open at 1pm.
Staffed by lifeguards and counselors from the city Department of Recreation.

Summer Reading Program (June – August)
The Summer Reading Program varies in specifics from library to library but in general incentives are provided to encourage children to read a book each week such as weekly raffles, free admission passes to 13 places like the Roger Williams Park Zoo and the Providence Children’s Museum for each book read, and prizes and a party at the end. There will be approximately 240 performances this year by storytellers, entertainers and educators, along with crafts, activity sheets, and many special theme-related events to encourage continued participation throughout the summer. Some of the performances may require pre-registration but these events are usually fabulous, free and open to the public. Check library for details.
The Newport International Polo Series (June – September)
The Newport International Polo Series, takes place every Saturday throughout the summer and early fall, at 5:00 pm in June, July, August and at 4:00 pm in September. The matches are open to the public, and take place on the polo grounds of historic Glen Farm in Portsmouth, on the outskirts of Newport. Tickets are available at the gate on the day of the match. Tailgate picnics are welcome with field-side general admission for lawn seating or grandstand seating, which costs $10.00 for adults and children are free.

Movies on the Block (Thursdays, June – September)

Where: Westminster Street, Downtown Providence.

Baseball
Providence Grays Vintage Base Ball Club (April – August)
This modern day Rhode Island team goes vintage and pays tribute to the 1884 Grays baseball team. Schedule runs from April to August. Games are free and open to the public.
Paw Sox (April – September)
The Pawtucket Red Sox (known colloquially as the PawSox) are the minor league baseball Triple-A affiliates of the Boston Red Sox. They play their home games at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Tickets are affordable at $10 and under. Check their schedule for home games and special kid events.
Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show (June 27-28, 2009)
Where: Quonset State Airport, 1 Minutman Way, North Kingstown
The Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show was established in 1991 as a major community event The airshow offers the finest aerial and static dsplays along with activities for people of all ages.
South County Hot Air Balloon Festival (July 17-18-19, 2009)
Where: The Festival is located at the URI Athletic fields off Route 138 in Kingston RI.
Arrive super early to watch the hot air balloons go up. Lots of family fun activities. Check web site for schedule, admission fees, etc.
Newport Kite Festival (July or August, check web site for schedule)
Where: Breton State Park, Newport, RI
Hundreds of kites in the air, on the ground and in competions. Bring a picnic blanket, lunch and plenty of sunscreen. Free event.
