Time to pick some blueberries!
I just got word from my weekly Providence Business News (PBN) email:

BLUEBERRIES ARE CALLED “superfruits,” having the favorable combination of nutrients and high levels of antioxidants. Though they are shipped to every corner of the world, blueberries are native only to North America. As luck would have it, blueberry season starts this weekend, and Rhode Islanders can get their hands on a fresh batch right from the field at Schartner Farms in Exeter. With a daily harvest of vegetables, homemade cooked goods, summer flowers and baked pies, Schartner Farms is a step back in time without the costumes or exaggerated accents. Take an afternoon to explore the grounds and pick berries with the children, or make it a first stop on that road trip to South County.
Details: Schartner Place, Route 2, Exeter. Saturday, July 12; 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

it’s raspberry time too.
How long does blueberry season last? We are relocating to RI this coming week, and I’d love to be able to pick blueberries!
Blueberry season should still be happening all this week.
Schartner rocks! Many parents who grew up in RI probably remember picking strawberries and apples there, when it was much smaller and there was not much else to be picked!
