A new partnership between School One and the Providence Athenaeum offers access to Edgar Allan Poe and all things Gothic for students in grades 7-12 and a special event is planned to coincide with it.
Youth Gothic POEtry and Arts Night, Thursday, April 11, 2019
The Providence Athenaeum and School One will host Youth Gothic POEtry and Arts Night on Thursday, April 11, 2019, 5:30p.m.-7:30p.m. This event will begin with a reading of The Raven by Kiani Pope followed by a student reading.
Kiani Pope is a former Write Rhode Island winner, previous RI State Youth Poetry Ambassador, and a student at the MET School. The Providence Athenaeum is located at 251 Benefit Street in Providence. To learn more, contact them at 401-421-6970 or visit their website.
The event coincides with the previously announced free writing class for teens.
Gothic Poetry & Flash Fiction Writing Class
School One’s Gothic themed creative writing class is done in partnership with the Providence Athenaeum. This special four-week class starts with a visit to the Athenaeum where students from across RI engage with their current exhibition Ravenous: The Enduring Legacy of Poe and use it as inspiration for their own original piece of writing.
