Do you have an older child that watches younger siblings or one who wants to make some extra money babysitting? This class may be for your child.

SafeSitter® Essentials with CPR is a one-day class designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The Instructor-led class is filled with games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR. Classes are offered by the Lifespan Community Health Institute.

Classes focus on the following:

  • Safety skills: Indoor and outdoor safety, online safety, personal safety, and handling emergencies.
  • Child care skills: Child development, child care duties, and behavior management.
  • First aid and rescue skills: Injury prevention, first aid and injury management, choking rescue, and CPR.
  • Life & business skills: Job screening, setting a wage, canceling jobs, and meeting employers.

Classes are conducted at Lifespan Community Health Institute in Providence and in community-based settings. You can sign your child up for one of the three scheduled classes or sign up to bring a SAFE SITTER program to your community.
