Beach Cleanup: Join Kidoinfo in this fun, easy family volunteer activity!

By Susan Gale

On September 21, 2019, Kidoinfo and Save the Bay are partnering to clean up the North Kingstown Town Beach – and we need your family to join us!

At just two hours, we’ll keep the kids active and involved the entire time. This beach is flat and safe for kids. And if your kids are done after an hour, that’s fine too!

This clean up, from 10 am-noon, is part of an international effort – the International Coastal Cleanup – to both clean and record how much trash is collected – the results will be part of an international report.

All you need is closed-toed shoes and plenty of water to take part. Bring your own garden gloves or we’ll provide plastic ones if you don’t have them. If you happen to have one of those long trash picking sticks, bring that too.

To sign up, go here. You will need to make an account with Save the Bay in order to sign up with their system.

My partner and I took a Save the Bay training to lead this clean up and in 15 minutes, about 15 people picked up 17 pounds of trash! So, the more of you who join, the more good we can do.

This is a great – and easy – opportunity to teach your kids about helping others. Plus, we’ll have stickers and a “make your own bookmark” activity for kids too.
