Craft Bash (all ages) @ Artists' Exchange
May 25 2019 @ 11:00 am – Mar 31 2020 @ 2:00 pm

Families welcome to join us for free crafts at Artists’ Exchange on the last Saturday of each month. Craft bash themes are not only designed to be fun art activities for kids but also enriching learning opportunities. The arts can work as a tool for strengthening skills in all disciplines by offering alternative ways to think about core subjects. Many art projects unknowingly have ties to math, science and history. By exemplifying these concepts throughout the project, kids can build their art skills while learning cross-curricular information at the same time.

2020 Craft Themes

Weaving on the Go!
Learn a little bit about the history and craft of weaving and create a small woven swatch to adorn

March 27th
Our History
Celebrate Youth Art Month! Create a mini folding book that illustrates your autobiography. We will break out lots of materials for this project so be ready to explore new things on each page and

The Rainbow Beard Show (all ages) @ Providence Athenaeum
Jun 14 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Rainbow Beard Show presents Books!
What makes a book a book? Why do we read them? Can we do anything with them besides reading? Do you have a favorite book?
At this special edition of The Rainbow Beard Show, we will look at books in ways that you have never thought possible. We may even find a way to physically ‘go inside’ of one! There will be singing. There will be dancing. There will be book reviews. There will be Special Special Guests. As always, everyone is included and together, we will put the RAAAAA!!! in ‘Rare Books!’

Ricky Katowicz is the creator and host of a live theater production for children and their families called, ‘The Rainbow Beard Show’. It is both a spectacle and a classroom. Audience participation is encouraged and the shows feature recurring characters, special guests, minute-long dance parties, and a celebration of authentic feelings. People often don’t know what to expect and that is in and of itself the expectation. Everyone is included!
