Please be sure to include your event location, time, contact information (phone number, website, email), costs, description of the event, photo, and anything else that you want people to know. The more information, the more likely people will attend!

Winter Wonders Weekend Scavenger Hunts

Saturdays & Sundays
March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 & 28
10 AM to 4 PM

Join us for a weekend escape in Blithewold’s majestic winter landscape!

Try one of our four themed scavenger hunts! Take home a Grab & Go activity, worksheet pages, and a suggested children’s reading list for winter. (One Grab & Go kit for every pre-registered child)

Complete your scavenger hunt and you’ll be entered into a raffle to win our Music at Sunset Picnic Package! (4 tickets to one of our Music at Sunset concerts, private porch seating, plus a boxed picnic)

Flexible Ticketing Available: We know how crazy life is these days. To help you make things a little less crazy we’ve created flexible ticketing! How it works: Pick your weekend, purchase your tickets, then wait until the last minute to decide which weekend day you’d like to arrive. Pick Saturday or Sunday, put on your boots (it can be snowy and a bit muddy) zip up your coat, and drive to Blithewold for a few hours of outdoor fresh air fun!

Weekend Activity Kits:

  • Snowflakes and Statues
    • Scavenger hunt: Find all these interesting statues and features on Blithewold s property
    • Grab & Go activity: Make a marshmallow snowflake
  • Winter Wildlife
    • Our garden is part of our ecosystem. Even in the winter, many creatures eat, sleep in and depend on certain plants. Look for all these plants that attract local wildlife.
    • Grab & Go activity: Make your own bird feeder.
  • Winter Tree ID
    • Observe Blithewold’s winter arboretum by taking a closer look at needles, bark, buds and berries! See if you can find track down each tree, and perhaps learn the names of some trees!
    • Grab & Go Activity: Make pinecone owls
  • Winter Sky
    • Don’t forget to look up! This scavenger hunt will have you looking towards the sky to notice architectural details on the property as well as other winter wonders you may have missed.
    • Grab & Go activity: Make cookies in the shapes of phases of the moon

We adapted 6 of our most popular Artists and Inventors programs into activities you can do at home, at any time!  Click here to place an order, and for more information view our Take-Home Kits page.  We are also developing a second series of 6 activities that will be available later this Fall.

In the effort to help keep staff and patrons safe; we are limiting the number of museum patrons allowed in the museum in order to help everyone keep a 6-foot distance.
Two (2) groups will be allowed in the museum at a time with the maximum size of each group being five (5) individuals and limiting the age of visitors to 6yrs and up.
A group’s visit will be limited to one (1) hour; so that we may accommodate all of our patrons.
At this time, we discourage “playdates” or meetups with people you are not regularly in contact with.

All museum visitors MUST wear a mask at all times while in the museum.

The museum is divided into three (3) zones, allowing each group of visitors safe interaction with the museum exhibits. Once your group leaves a zone, you will not be able to return to that zone, so the movement through the museum will be more directed than previous visits. Each section will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each use.

We will confirm your visit via email. If you do not receive an email or hear from us, or you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact Glen at gschneider@rimosa.org.

We ask that if any member of your group tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of your visit, that you notify RIMOSA by email or telephone so that we may properly provide our staff and patrons with timely and accurate information.

Weekly Story Times
Parents and children can join our storytellers two times each week for the ongoing Story Time event lasting approx. 30 minutes.

–This event is best suited for children 6 months–6 years old.
10:30am Mondays for Babies
11:00am Saturdays for all Kids

Sometimes, our story times are cancelled due to sickness or inclement weather. You are welcome to give us a call at (401) 331-9097 around 10:00am to find out if Story Time is happening.

Join Miss Jodi in Barrington every Thursday for stories, singing, dancing and making new friends.

Our children’s story hour is for children 2-5 years of age (all ages are welcome) and is hosted
by one of our storytellers extraordinaire- Miss Maddy, Miss Jodi and Miss Elena. 

Books are specially picked for each story time with a thematically related craft to follow.
All selections are wonderful recommendations for books to read with children!
