Join the Woonsocket Harris Public Library February 18th from 3 o’clock to 4 o’clock to learn about all the things that Rob Roy Academy has to offer. Lisa Goodnow will be talking about the history of Rob Roy, her experiences since she started working with them, financial aid options they have, and she will also talk about all the different courses such as cosmetology, barbering, manicuring, and esthetics. Open to middle school, high school, and adults.

Barrington Books is excited to launch our new Teen Book Club. The Teen Book Club is an opportunity for teens to talk about their favorite books, plan future book club activities and meet other teens. At our first Teen Book Club get together, we will be talking about One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus. This first title was chosen by a Alex, a student in Cranston. It’s okay if you have not finished reading this title. Snacks will be provided! It may be hard to imagine being attacked but it happens in Rhode Island every day. These attacks occur without warning and when individuals least expect it. It is extremely important for everyone to be prepared for times like these and that is why we take the subject of self- defense very seriously.
By learning the basics of self-defense you help prepare yourself for dangerous and unforeseen circumstances.
During this workshop you will learn:
* Situational awareness
* Vital parts of the body that are vulnerable and easy to attack
* Basic strikes and kicks
* Defenses for the most common attacks on women
* Plus a whole lot more.
