Celebrate International Children’s Book Day 2011

[ 1 ] April 2, 2024 |

Celebrate International Children’s Book Day (ICBD) today by reading a story to your children about far away lands and lovely adventures, giving a new book to a child or visit your local library with them to show them the wonders they can discover by reading.

The poster for International Children’s Book Day 2011 comes from Estonia, with a beautiful design by Jüri Mildeberg (aka Jüri Mildebergius). The theme is ‘The Book Remembers’.

Since 1967, The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) has celebrated ICBD every year on Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, April 2nd, to honor this beloved childrens fairy tale writer and to call attention to children books and to promote the love of books and reading to children.

The United States Board on Books for Young People serves as the U.S. national section of IBBY.

For a list of books to share with your children, read IBBY’s 2011 book list organized by age group.
