Beginning on Monday, July 13 the Cranston Public Library will enter into Phase 3 of our reopening plan, with limited but expanded access and services. The Central Library will return to normal hours of operation. Our branch locations will remain open at Phase 2 hours with the addition of Thursday hours at the Auburn branch. In Phase 3 we will be reopening our stacks for browsing , but we ask patrons to maintain 6 feet of physical distance and only one person will be allowed in a row at a time. We will also be reopening the Central Library Children’s Room, the Auburn branch children’s space, and the picture book space at the William Hall Library.
We have increased our building capacity, but there will still be a limit on how many people can enter our buildings at a time. Face masks covering both nose and mouth are required for entry.
All seating and study areas will remain closed in Phase 3. There is no sitting or congregating in the library and all meeting rooms will remain closed to the public.
There will be limited access to public computers. Computers will be available by reservation only and will be limited to one hour of use. Limited computer assistance will be available. Library staff will be maintaining physical distance and contact time for your health and theirs.
In addition to mandatory wearing of face masks on entry to the building, we urge everyone to take precautions and follow all guidelines seriously. Maintaining 6′ physical distancing while in the library is extremely important. If you are sick or experiencing any symptoms of illness, we ask you that you refrain from entering the library at this time. We have hand sanitizer for your use and restroom facilities for handwashing at all locations. Our Library staff are counting on you to follow these guidelines to make coming to the library a safe experience for all.
