Home School Musical is a two-part youth theater program in which young performers and playwrights have the rare opportunity to create their dream role! Home School Musical, Part 1 involves the collaborative development and writing of a full length musical including lyrics, scenes and songs that is intended to be performed in a virtual environment. This is an 8-week course that takes place over Zoom and is led by Experiments in Theater director, Valerie Remillard and composer, Tim Girard. Participants will work together to establish characters, dialogue, songs, lyrics and a narrative arc. In between online class sessions, students and instructors will collaborate asynchronistically via a shared document. The full musical will be rehearsed and performed in a subsequent class, Part 2, which will take place immediately following Part 1, dates and times are to be determined. Participants in Home School Musical, Part 1 will assemble online once/week for 8 weeks on Wednesday, December 2, 9, 16, 23 and January 6, 13, 20, 27.
