Roger Williams Park Zoo is ringing in “zoo-thousand and twelve” by offering half priced admission beginning on New Year’s Day, January 1, and running through February 29, 2012.  During this time visitors can enjoy a winter visit with the animals for just $6 for adults, $4 for seniors (62+) and $4 for children (ages 3 — 12).  Zoo members and children under three are always free.  The Zoo will be closed to the public on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, December 24 and 25.

A winter visit to the Zoo offers a unique experience and a great way to beat cabin fever.  Cold-hardy animals like red pandas, snow leopards, penguins, bison and others may be more active, while visits to the Tropical America building, featuring exotic primate species, and the Textron Elephant & Giraffe Pavilion offer a break from winter weather.  Visitors can enjoy hot food and beverages at the Wilderness Café in the upper Zoo, and the gift shop will be open as well.

For more information, visit www.rwpzoo.org or call 401-785-3510.  Roger Williams Park Zoo is open daily, 9 a.m. — 4 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
