Not going to RI Comic Con on November 2? Then drop into Mount Pleasant Library for the third annual Neighborhood Comics Fest, a fun, family event!
There will be lots to see and do as local artists, librarians, and educators host creative, hands-on sessions, fun activity booths and a comic book and graphic novel giveaway.
Feel free to dress in costume as your favorite character! The event takes place on Saturday, November 2, 1-5 pm at Mount Pleasant Library, one of the nine neighborhood locations of Providence Community Library (PCL) at 315 Academy Avenue, Providence.
The event’s program includes the following highlights:
- Intergalactic dance battle featuring Big Nazo characters (starts at 3:00PM)
- Video game design with Bloxels(an intuitive platform for creating video games)
- Stop-motion animation design
- Sci-fi photo booth
- Life-size comic character installations
- Superhero T-shirt printing
- Comic book and graphic novel giveaway
- Digital drawing
- Activities led by RISD, The Wilbury Theatre Group and others
Neighborhood Comics Fest brings creativity, education and community together in an engaging way” said event organizer, Garrett Locke. “It connects youth and adults with local artists and builds a sense of community between residents and exhibitors. We hope that event visitors will be inspired to explore our maker space equipment and technology tools and participate in the many creative programs we offer in our libraries.”
Neighborhood Comics Fest is presented by staff of PCL’s Mount Pleasant and Olneyville libraries and event partners PVD Young Makers, The Wilbury Theater Group, RISD Museum, and Big Nazo.
