New full-day Montessori program for 3-Year-olds starts Sept. 2019

The Montessori Children’s House, a school dedicated to providing an “intellectually stimulating atmosphere” for children, ages 3 to 12, announced that they will provide a full day program option for 3-year-old children, beginning in September 2019.

This program, at 518 Lloyd Avenue, Providence, will run 8:30 am to 3:00 pm on a five-day-a-week basis.  As with the school’s other levels, early drop off and the after-school programs will also be available to this age group.

In a press release, the school said: “In order to meet the needs of the community, a full day program for 3-year-old children is essential to providing a quality education for those that value a child centered and Montessori based curriculum.  For families that have working parents, this will be a great benefit, especially for those children who are at the beginning of their education.”

“A full day program option for our 3-year-olds is an exciting opportunity for us as a school.  We can now provide our youngest students with a day that includes rich learning experiences, time to rest in a cozy environment and plenty of outdoor play,” said Melanie Wilson, Head of School at Montessori Children’s House.

Further, the press release said: “The foremost goal of the Montessori Children’s House, grades pre-school through 6th grade, is to provide an environment that meets the developmental needs of the child.  The MCH student is one who develops a life-long love of learning, indulges a natural sense of curiosity, and becomes a self-disciplined and self-motivated student.

“In addition to our commitment to the principles of Montessori education, the school fosters in children a sense of stewardship toward themselves, each other and the natural world.  The school is connected to the local neighborhood and city through a variety of activities, and it teaches children about the cultures of the world so that they understand their place in it and view themselves as global citizens.  The school attracts a diverse student body that provides an invaluable resource for all grades.”

Montessori Children’s House is licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Education and is an American Montessori Society (AMS) Full Member School.
