Our last days of summer vacation…

[ 2 ] September 1, 2009 |

backpacks-2ndgradeMy kids head back to school tomorrow. I know it’s cliché but I’m saying it anyways–summer flew by. I have taken a few days off cleaning up, sorting out, buying school supplies and enjoying the last days of my sons’ vacation with picnics, swimming, playing at the beach and biking while squeezing my work into the remaining time.

There is a chill in the air–it definitely feels like fall and back to school time–and although I am already looking forward to apple picking and fall foliage I know I will miss and cherish this time of my boys being this young and yet so big all at once.

I couldn’t agree more with your sentiment about kids being this young and yet so big all at once. My youngest child experienced her first day of kindergarten yesterday. Although I was in tears as I saw her walk on that big yellow bus, I’ve been cherishing the mornings with her. And I look forward to balancing work, playdates, and soon, swim lessons, soccer, dance and other activities. But this week, it’s all about taking it all in, enjoying the fall weather, and relishing this precious time while my kids are independent, inventive and still so innocent.
