At Audubon Society of Rhode Island, an independent state environmental organization, you can walk, snowshoe or cross-country ski on a beautiful refuge, borrow a book, video or DVD, arrange a classroom program, learn about bird feeding, how animals survive the winter, vernal pools and more, host a child’s birthday party, buy a nature related gift, sign your child up for summer day camp, or participate in a wide menu of programs. ASRI is for more than the birds! Nature Crafts for Kids, Sat 10 am-2 pm.

Admission: Adults $6, Seniors (65+) $5, Children 4-12 $4, children under 4. ASRI members free. Citizens Bank Foundation Free Family Fun Day; free admission first Saturday of each month.

Summer camps are a fun-filled way to learn about the ocean. Each camp takes place at the Biomes Center Building and is hosted by one of our real Marine Biologists. Children will learn about the marine environment and its creatures and will participate in marine-themed games and crafts.
July - August. 9am - 12pm (Ages 5-12)
$75-$95/ session
Birthday parties: Two-hour staff-guided birthday party includes shark petting, holding tide-pool animals and a boa constrictor, feeding demonstrations, hundreds of animals to learn about, and live reptiles such as tortoises and lizards. Parents bring cake and paper goods. $150 for up to 12 children, $10 each for additional child, maximum 20. Adults and children under 4 are free.

The Roger Williams Park Botanical Center opened in March 2007. Voted the “Best Urban Oasis” by the 2007 Editor’s Poll in Rhode Island Monthly magazine, it is the largest public indoor display gardens in New England encompassing approximately 12,000 square feet of indoor gardens. During a visit to the Botanical Center, relax by a waterfall, enjoy the wonderful fragrance of flowers from around the world, take a child on a scavenger hunt or bring a camera or sketch pad! Our displays change during the year so please come back to see something new!

The EcoTarium is a unique indoor-outdoor museum of science and nature in Worcester, MA. description: The historic Ladd Observatory opened in 1891 under the direction of Prof. Winslow Upton. A regular program of transit observations and timekeeping was started in 1893. Ladd Observatory is a historic landmark and a center for astronomy education in Providence. Open to the public free of charge on Tuesday evening 8:00pm-10:00pm, weather permitting (Please check the resource website prior to your visit).

Summer Camps: Save The Bay’s summer camps combine the beauty of Narragansett Bay with the fascinating world of marine and aquatic science. We create games, crafts and activities that make learning about our environment fun. Bay campers spend their days aboard Save The Bay’s marine education vessels as well as exploring on foot a variety of shorelines and habitats including sand and rocky beaches, salt marshes and eelgrass beds. Choose from sessions at various locations for children who have completed grades K-8.
