The Blue Kangaroo Cafe now open in Barrington!

Drop in for coffee and choose an indoor table, comfy armchair or outdoor table beneath flowering hanging baskets. If you’re feeling indulgent, add one of the sizable delicious homemade pastries.

Moms in morning workout clothes, business people having lunch, and friends meeting for coffee. Barrington has a new cafe with a little something for everyone.

The Blue Kangaroo Cafe is one of our favorite stops. Located in the Prince’s Hill Plaza on County Road, The Blue Kangaroo Cafe offers a cozy atmosphere, good food and free wi-fi.

The cafe serves its sandwiches on your choice of a soft Italian roll, wrap or bagel, including gluten-free options. You can create your own sandwich, but the menu offers a wide selection. My kids are partial to the meatball sub, although standard kid fare–grilled cheese and PB&J–is available.

The menu also includes salads, soups and breakfast sandwiches, but our family favorites are the smoothies. When rushing from school to other activities, we drop into The Blue Kangaroo Cafe for a quick fruit smoothie. The kids feel they’ve gotten a treat, and I’m happy they’re eating fruit.

The Blue Kangaroo Cafe is one of few options for a quick dinner in Barrington, and this busy mom is grateful they remain open until 7 pm on weeknights. We don’t have time for table service during the week, and most other Barrington options close after lunch. While I try to plan ahead and cook dinner every day, it’s great to have a healthy and quick dinner option available in the middle of town.
